Who am I?

I’m Kylea, the breeder behind Queen City Farm. I began my career in veterinary medicine as a Veterinary Assistant, where I spent several years working hands-on with dogs and their health and care. From there, I pursued formal education in training and behavior through the Karen Pryor Academy, earning my Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP) credential. That foundation in veterinary care and science-based training naturally led me into responsible breeding, where health, temperament, and thoughtful development come first. Today, I bring those experiences together in every pairing, litter, and placement decision at Queen City Farm.

ABOUT US

Hands-On Experience

At Queen City Farm, I’m directly involved in every stage of raising our dogs and puppies. I personally plan breedings, whelp litters, and provide hands-on care throughout the neonatal period, including monitoring health, development, and individual needs.
As puppies grow, I handle and observe them daily, introducing age-appropriate structure, exposure, and early skill-building while carefully watching temperament, confidence, and recovery. This close involvement allows me to understand each puppy as an individual and make thoughtful placement decisions that set both the puppy and their future family up for success.

Education & Mentorship

My approach is grounded in both formal education and hands-on mentorship. I’ve completed professional training through the Karen Pryor Academy, where I studied learning theory, behavior, and humane, science-based training methods. That foundation continues to guide how I raise, evaluate, and develop our dogs.In addition to formal coursework, I’ve learned through mentorship and collaboration with experienced breeders, trainers, and veterinary professionals. I continue to expand my knowledge through ongoing education in canine behavior, breeding ethics, and early development to ensure our program evolves with the dogs and the breed.

Breeding Philisophy

I prioritize health, temperament, and sound structure in every breeding decision, with a focus on producing Australian Shepherds suited for real-world homes. Pairings are planned intentionally, never around trends or color, and puppies are evaluated and placed based on the individual and the family.
Breeding at Queen City Farm is guided by responsibility—to the dogs, the breed, and the families who bring them home.

A black tri Australian Shepherd puppy with piercing blue eyes lies on a wooden floor, gazing downward with a curious and slightly mischievous expression. Its fur is predominantly black with rich tan points on its legs, cheeks, and above the eyes, along with a white chest patch. The floppy ears and fluffy coat give it an endearing puppy look. In the background, a few moving boxes and a coiled black leash hint at a home setting, softly lit by natural daylight from a nearby window.

How I raise puppies

Puppies are raised in our home and on our farm, with exposure to everyday sights, sounds, and routines. This environment allows us to observe temperament, support confidence, and provide a steady foundation for life in a real home. I raise them using ENS/ESI and Puppy Culture–based practices, focusing on early handling, gentle structure, routine exposure, and age-appropriate independence to help puppies transition smoothly into their new homes.

Location & Community

Queen City Farm is based in Falmouth, Kentucky, serving families throughout Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and the surrounding region. Our program is rooted in a local farming community and built on long-term relationships with the families we place puppies with.
