Indianapolis FAQ

Common Questions

How far is Queen City Farm from Indianapolis?

We're roughly 130 miles from Indianapolis, roughly a 2.5 hours drive. Southeast on I-74 through Cincinnati to Falmouth.

How do Indianapolis families bring home a puppy?

Puppy pickups happen at our farm in Falmouth, KY by appointment. Indianapolis-area families typically drive out for pickup day — many turn it into an afternoon to meet the parents and tour the farm. We also do video calls and home introductions in the weeks leading up to pickup so you feel ready by the time you arrive.

Do you ship puppies?

We don't ship puppies — every puppy is met by their family in person. We can occasionally arrange halfway meetups for longer drives, but pickup day is part of the experience: meeting the parents, seeing how the puppies were raised, and walking the farm.

Why drive 2.5 hours for an Australian Shepherd?

Because the breeder you choose shapes the dog you live with for the next 12+ years. Our health testing, structure, and socialization are worth the drive — and many of our IN families say they wish they'd come to us first.

What should Indianapolis families look for in a good Australian Shepherd breeder?

Look for a breeder who health-tests every dog they breed — hips and elbows through OFA, eyes examined by a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, and a genetic panel through Embark and UC Davis — and who shows you the results. Good breeders raise puppies underfoot with early socialization, prove their dogs in the show ring or dog sports, welcome you to meet the parents in person, and back every puppy with a written contract and lifetime return-to-breeder support. We walk through the full checklist — and the red flags worth walking away from — in our guide to choosing a responsible breeder.

How do Indianapolis customers pick up a pork or lamb share?

Share pickup happens at the farm in Falmouth, KY by appointment, or at our Pendleton County farmers market booth on Saturdays. Heritage tier customers also get free home delivery within 60 miles of the farm.

What makes your pasture-raised pork and lamb different?

Our hogs root and forage in wooded paddocks, our lambs are grass-finished on rotational pasture, and every animal is raised without routine antibiotics or hormones. You can trace each cut back to the paddock it came from — and you're welcome to come walk the farm and see it for yourself.

Can I visit the farm before reserving?

Yes. We welcome serious buyers to come walk the farm, meet the animals, and see how things are run. Reach out through our contact form to schedule a visit, or follow us on social for occasional open farm days.
