Quick Answers
Why is the estimated total a range?
Yield varies slightly per animal. A whole lamb typically packages out to 25–35 lbs of meat depending on cut choices (bone-in vs boneless, ground vs roast). We charge for the actual packaged weight at pickup.
When is the balance due?
At pickup. We'll send you the exact packaged weight and final invoice a few days before your share is ready.
Are your lambs grass-fed?
Our lambs are pasture-raised and grass-finished. They spend their lives on grass, with a small amount of supplemental grain used only when we move them between pastures. The result is the mild, clean taste of a majority-grass diet without the stress of being entirely grain-free.
Can I change tiers after I reserve?
Yes, up until we finalize your cut sheet together (usually 1–2 weeks before processing). After that, changes may not be possible.
Can I split a share with someone?
Absolutely — splitting a whole lamb is a great way to save roughly $1/lb overall compared to buying a half. Just let us know in the notes and we'll package it accordingly.
Does it come frozen?
Yes — everything is vacuum-sealed, labeled with the cut name and pack date, and flash-frozen right after processing. All pickup and delivery is frozen only. Properly stored, your lamb will keep excellent quality for 12+ months.
How much freezer space will I need?
Lamb is much more compact than pork. Rough guidance:
Whole lamb (≈25–35 lbs): about 1 cu ft in a chest freezer, or 1.5 cu ft in an upright.
Half lamb (≈12–18 lbs): about 0.5 cu ft in a chest, or 0.75 cu ft in an upright.
A standard fridge-freezer compartment fits a whole lamb comfortably.
How do I get it home?
Bring one or two large coolers with ice or ice packs, especially if you're driving more than 30 minutes. Frozen vacuum-sealed packages hold temperature well for a few hours in a good cooler. Heritage share customers get free home delivery within 60 miles, so no transport planning needed.
